William J. Grisaitis, MD

Dr. Grisaitis was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in the Air Force with his Mom and Dad as they moved from one assignment to another. He came to Florida with them in 1964 when his Dad was stationed at McCoy Air Force Base. (Hence MCO, our airport code for Orlando) He developed a life long love of Central Florida, fresh orange juice and beautiful sunsets. He attended Bishop Moore High School and went to St. Louis University in Missouri for his undergraduate studies and Medical School. (Go Billkens) He met his wife during their undergraduate studies and they completed medical school together. She is Anne Claiborne, MD a radiologist specializing in women's imaging. (Get your mammogram!) He graduated at the top of his class and was awarded membership in AOA, a national medical honorary society. He completed an internship and residency at The University of Florida in internal medicine. (Go Gators) He stayed at the VA in Gainesville running the outpatient clinic and taught in Internal Medicine. Sensing a need at the University of Florida to have someone who could help identify and treat those confusing skin rashes and skin growths, he decided to pursue a second residency in Dermatology.

He participated in Dermatologic research at Duke University and completed a three year Residency in Dermatology at Washington University in St. Louis. He was named chief resident in his final year. He is a board certified dermatologist and member of the American Academy of Dermatology. He opened his practice on Valentine's Day in 1996. Many of his staff are still with him since that day.

He has always been an advocate for patients, participated in TV news spots on channel 2 and 9 to educate patients on dermatologic issues in the days before the advent of professional medical TV personalities. He has lectured medical students at the University of Florida in dermatology. He is on the faculty as a clinical dermatologist at the new medical school in Central Florida.

He enjoys hiking, photography (the photographs in the office are his), traveling and cooking, and hopes to retire as a professional photographer for National Geographic.

In the meantime he can be reached at Dermatology Center of Maitland.
